MyRunway.2 x Colore By Jay

I’ve worked and walked for some amazing designers these last two years. There’s always such versatility and variation between the designers that are showcased and the talent shown throughout the show.

As I mentioned in part one of the post in the most recent show I was privileged enough to be selected as one of the main roles for the show. On the evening, for one of my final walks, I wore a beautiful gown by Colore By Jay (Link below), which fit in well with the fairytale theme of the storyline.

I was part of the walks for designers; cranium, Agatha, Colore By Jay, Phidel, Established boutique and Giberky. Honestly the changes were epic but the adrenaline rush always helped to get those outfits off and on quick.

This beautiful fishtale gown was designed by Colore By Jay. I was proposed to on the show as part of a happy ending to my on stage love story of Romeo and Juliet. It was so fun adding a bit of acting to the walks and that, and the crowd seemed to be happy with me being wooed left right and center.

Colore By Jay

Inspired by her Ghanaian & Italian background, Jay decided to put her cultural diversity to good use.  Paired with her love for vintage fashion, which she’d discovered while gaining work experience at a retail store at age 16, and her flair for fashion and colour… Jay wanted to follow her dream and implement her belief that “young girls and women should dress classy and sophisticated”.   This belief, passion for fashion and impeccable work ethic led to “Colore by Jay”, where YOU can “Be The Muse In Your Canvas Of Life”.
Doing this videoshoot for Colore By Jay A/W line, was so much fun; you would never be able to tell that we were dealing with near enough 0 degrees it was absolutely freezing but that helped us be on our A game, the faster and better we did the shoots the quicker we could put a coat on ha. Everything was executed so well that day and even with the weather I would still do it all over again.

Take a look at Colore By Jay's website where she shows more of her pieces and style. http://colorebyjay.com/

MyRunway Part 1

My Runway Part 1

So y’all know I’m always involved in one thing or another and can never get enough of fashion and style. In light of the third upcoming My Runway show I though why not dedicate a post to something that’s made my style and fashion life that much better.

For the past two years I’ve taken part in an event held in my university town Coventry. My runway is a fashion show hosting and presenting new and up-coming designers not only in Coventry but the UK and around the world.
As I am, I’ve always been interested in fashion which isn't new to any of you  and  have invested time in exploring new styles.

On the debut of the event I was quick to get myself involved and honestly I haven’t regretted it since then. As I said I participated in not only the first show but the second one also. It quickly became a talked about event, and for us involved we continued to grow as a unit and a family.

The show was created by Kojo Marfo and Daryl Amankwah, but has an extensive team that brings together what we show the world. A huge shout out to Sinead Banful the creative director of the show; when you say someone is a character! Honestly the first time she presented herself to us we knew we were in for a ride. Her level of talent and creativity is amazing (as she would say it's not her its God) A year later and her partner in crime Shannice Mears – Cheoreographer, joined the team and well let’s just say they are unstoppable.

This year not only is the team expanding but the show is growing. I’m just sitting back giving everyone a round of applause because from auditions to the final performance the growth is so real, it’s like literally watching a baby grow.

Because sinead loves me and hopefully because I can walk good ha I was blessed and truly grateful to have a central role in the most recent show. Playing a mix between Cinderella and a devious character Ronnie (my prince) and I portrayed our love story to the audience. It was so awesome he proposed and all ha.
The shows are so fun and do more than showcase fashion but bring in the art of dance and acting as well.

Travelling light

So took a trip back to London this week to celebrate a little bit with my papa for his birthday. I absolutely hate travelling with too much luggage unless its necessary.  I’m known for going around with a very large bag usually because I just feel odd without one and small bags are so foreign to me. Obviously as it goes for travelling you have to be comfortable right. So when I saw this bag in a vintage shop in Amsterdam I just fell in love. For only 10 euros it was an absolute bargain and I knew I would get some good usage out of it. It’s got so many compartments and is proper spacious as well.

Two pieces and jumpsuits make me happy. These come as separate pieces but tucked it look just like a jumpsuit. I love the fact that you can mix and match the sizes (for those more top or bottom heavy I’m sure you can understand the struggle with one-pieces and jumpsuits). This geo-print to piece is perfect. You can wear each part separately which helps to have a wider wardrobe with less pieces. In this weather layering is beyond necessary and it helps for if and when you get flustered running about for trains buses and tubes. Flat shoes go without saying when travelling. I love these patent ones (featured before) because they aren’t too flat but comfortable and flexible.

Hope you likey.

Five Rivers

Leamington Spa

(Apologies for the lighting - it was a dark day and had dim lighting)
Definitely need to keep this one close to the heart seeing as it’s where it all started. It’s been a long time since I had Indian cuisine. For some who has only had it once as a take out, I always seem to crave a nice hot curry (usually I just make it at home myself)

So an impromptu day found us in Leamington spa, after shooting photos for my other blog posts, the next thing on all our minds was food. Leamington spa is a really lovely area and relatively saturated with different places to go and eat.
But we had curry on our mind. We didn’t actually go into our chosen restaurant first…the restaurant – that I won't name – we did go into first was a bit…off. For a Sunday evening we expected it to be quiet but from the décor down to the customer at the table with his creepy grin, I didn’t hesitate to walk out, literally. Probably can’t go back there again but hey we made the right choice.
On a quiet evening, you can imagine that everyone was very welcoming once you came in. We stepped into five rivers chose our preferred seats and got comfortable.

First thing I noticed was the layout, as you would do. It was so cute with the ribbons around the napkins and that. Their cutlery was so pleasantly odd; their knives were very curved and so sleek that I was forever trying to find the sharp side.

Being the foodies that we are we ordered the tandoori sizzler as starter to share.
It came with a mint and like a curry sauce. When it came oh it was literally sizzling (you can see the steam a little bit) when I saw that it was served with onions too I was so happy I love adding onions to everything. The meats and fish were so tender and accompanied by the sauce gave each bit a lovely twist.

“The tandoori sizzler a delicious assortment of tandoori items prepared on skewers; salmon tikka, chicken malai tikka, paneer tikka, seekh kebab”

And onto the main I went with Karahi chicken and coconut rice, sam went for the tandoori combo with pilau rice and kemma naan, and sarah had the Lamb chops with coconut rice. Im such a carnivore but when I say the coconut rice was just the best! Like the last time I had coconut rice I was like 11 it was so fluffy and had tiny tiny coconut flakes mmmmm.

Tandoori combo - More than generous with potions
Karahi & Coconut rice.

Forget dessert (not sure if they had it anyway) we were stuffed had to take some home. We met the manager Umakant Sharma who politely came over to introduce himself to us, such a lovely guy made sure that we were sorted and made some recommendations of what we might like. They even made it spicier for us (preferences and that).
Sarah and I took a little trip down to the toilet and whilst it doesn't have the flashiest decor is was definitely clean (apart from a bit of a spider web in the corner of my toilet). I always say you can tell a lot about a restaurant by its toilet, odd right.
So yeah back upstairs, we got the bill (and sweets yay), exchanging pleasantries with the staff- bless them - and called it a night.

And so out of 5;
